Procedures for centrifugal clutch removal and oil pump inspection.

Phase 3A: Clutch Assembly

1. Centrifugal Clutch Removal

WARNING LEFT-HAND THREADS! TURN CLOCKWISE TO LOOSEN!

  1. TOOL Insert piston stop tool into the spark plug hole to prevent the engine from rotating.
  2. ACTION Use a clutch removal tool and socket wrench. Remember to turn CLOCKWISE to loosen the clutch.

INSPECT Clutch Springs & Shoes: Check for broken springs or excessive wear on the clutch shoes.

Phase 3B: Oil Pump

2. Oil Pump & Worm Gear

  1. ACTION Remove the clutch drum and needle bearing to access the oil pump assembly.
  2. ACTION Remove the oil pump cover and the oil pump itself.

INSPECT Nylon Drive Gear: Thoroughly inspect the nylon worm gear that drives the oil pump for stripped teeth or wear.
