1. ACTION Remove air filter cover and the heavy-duty air filter element.
2. ACTION Unbolt the carburetor box backing plate.

INSPECT Air Box: Check for sawdust bypassing the filter lip. Indicates a damaged seal.

1. ACTION Disconnect the throttle linkage rod carefully using pliers.
2. ACTION Disconnect the main fuel inlet line and the impulse line.

1. ACTION Slide the Walbro WG carburetor off the intake manifold studs.
2. ACTION Check the intake boot for cracks (primary cause of lean seizure).

INSPECT Needles: Standard baseline for H and L needles is 1 turn out from lightly seated.

1. ACTION Locate the decompression valve on the top of the cylinder head.
2. ACTION Use a deep socket to unscrew the valve.

INSPECT Carbon: If the valve is caked in carbon, it will fail to seal, destroying compression.

1. ACTION Remove the 4 base bolts securing the cylinder to the crankcase using a T27/Allen wrench.
2. ACTION Carefully pull the cylinder straight up, supporting the piston so it does not strike the crankcase.

WARNING Inspect the cylinder walls for Nikasil plating damage. Inspect piston skirt for scoring and aluminum transfer.
