Photographs only — do not shoot video

The reconstructor takes one photograph. Orbiting, bracketing or filming produces nothing it can use, and there is no video pipeline built yet. Shoot three or four stills of a part and pick the best — that is the whole benefit, and it is small compared with getting the background and the light right.

The five rules, in order

1
One object. Nothing else. Not the part plus a spanner, not the part plus its box, and not your hand. If it is in the photograph it is in the model. Stand it against a block — do not hold it.
2
It fills the frame — about 70–80% of the shorter side. A part filling a fifth of the frame gives a fifth of the detail.
3
Plain matte mid-tone background. Bare bench timber is ideal. Avoid patterned, shiny, or anything the same colour as the part.
4
Flat even light. Open shade or overcast, or indoors away from a window. No flash. Hard sun makes a black shadow that reconstructs as a hole in the part.
5
Straight on, at the part's height. Level with the object's middle — not looking down at it from standing.

Grease and paint wear are fine, arguably useful. Loose grit and hanging rags are not — they become geometry.

Before the in-line fuse

DISCONNECT THE BATTERY NEGATIVE FIRST. The 25 A in-line fuse sits at the starter stud, which is live from the battery at all times.

Fact shots

These upgrade recorded facts from CLAIMED to operator-verified. Plain readable photos — the framing rules above do not apply to these.

Then what

Drop everything in the SL4510 Drive folder. Ingest strips EXIF, slugs are assigned at review against the shoot manifest, and generation runs on the metered lane afterwards — nothing to do in the field beyond taking the photographs.

Measurements go in the field measurement sheet, which also works offline.
